Sofia the First Birthday Party

My daughter Sofia always tells people that she is Sofia the First. She decided that she wanted a Sofia the First Party and it was so fun! The location, the decorations, the treats, the dress, the necklace and the Royal Tea Party guests made her 4th Birthday Celebration so special.

I have been asked many times before if there is a good place for a little girl's princess or tea party in Tucson and I found one!  Kalina Tea Room - a unique Russian restaurant with beautiful flowery china,  and just the right amount of fancy for our little girl's princess and knight party. The food that we sampled was amazing! A smorgasbord of Russian foods fit for any princess. I loved the quiche and the meatballs were very tasty. The kids all enjoyed the gourmet mac and cheese, blintzes and mashed potatoes.

The birthday girl had to be dressed as her namesake- Sofia.  I found the wonderful shop, A Princess & a Pea. There are many Disney-inspired dresses- Snow White also caught my eye! The dress was made to order and shipped quickly.
It was perfect!  The design is simple enough to be able to move and twirl - a very important princess activity. My little Sofia did not complain once of any itchy, bothersome fabrics or seams- elegant and practical! Now through August 31, 2013- use the code AZFAMILIES to get $15 off any order at A Princess & a Pea.

If you know the story of Sofia the First, she is given a magical amulet. I wanted her dress to be accompanied by a special rendition of this necklace and Teagan and Tobe Boutique, made it as unique as I had hoped for.
We decided to bring in our own goodies to go along with the Sofia theme and colors. Leyla at Sweet Rush Boutique made our chocolate cake, vanilla cupcakes and adorable sugar cookies that went home in the gift bags. Not only do her designs look absolutely fabulous, they taste moist and delicious.  The frosting I chose was a mix of buttercream and cream cheese.  Outrageously good! Now through September 30, 2013- mention Arizona Families to get $5 off any order at Sweet Rush Boutique.

Every Princess Party needs their own paparazzi :) Sharon from Spyder Creations came to capture all of the moments of the celebration. An eye for design, helped to highlight everything this party was about.  All photos on the post were taken by her. Book Spyder Creations for your next event or family photos. Book by Sept 30 Use code AZFAM25  to get $25 off your session.

The activities were simple, as we were having a princess tea party in a beautiful restaurant. We built wooden castles, colored Sofia the First coloring sheets and read the story - available here: Sofia the First

As for the decorations, my sis and I made most of them.  99c bags with templates for the Sofia flower and a sword that you can cut out with an exacto knife and place tissue paper behind. Large and small tissue paper pom poms in coordinating colors.  The paper crowns were generously given to me by the Disney Store. You may want to try the Disney Store if you are doing anything Disney-esque- it can't hurt to ask.

What birthday theme have you done recently or are planning?

She made a dragon cake for us and did an incredible job! She will be making our daughter's Tiana cake! :)

    1. Which ones? The little ones in the cupcakes are from Target and the larger one on the cake as well. The paper ones are from Disney Store :)

  6. Sofia the First looks stunning on her purple dress! Was she the one who asked for a princess tea party? The event was wonderful. I love the idea that you didn't go for pink this time. Most princess parties are always filled with pink shade. Also, this type of party is normally about dressing up. And the event won't be complete if the girls don't wear tiara on their heads, right? Sophia must've been really happy with this celebration.
