What:Santa's Landing by Helicopter at Pima Air and Space. Every year the museum invites Santa Claus to fly in by helicopter to greet the good little girls and boys in Tucson. Families can watch Santa land, sit on his lap, and participate in many other festivities. .Be sure to bring your camera to take pictures of your child with Santa. After visiting Santa, Col. Gail Havorsen, the famous "Candy Bomber" during the Berlin Airlift, gives all the kids a candy cane!
Some of the holiday activities that children can partake in are:
- Writing a letter to Santa and hand delivering it to him!
- Storytime readings (about the "Candy Bomber")
- Ornament decorating
- Petting zoo
- Glider assembly
- Temporary holiday tattoo
Don’t forget to look at the aircraft on display outside and in the Main Hangar, plus in Hangars 3 and 4. The Space Gallery is also a great place to learn about space exploration and see a real moon rock!
For more educational fun, on the first Saturday of each month at 1pm, kids of certain ages can join the "Soarin’ Saturday" program. Kids will learn about flight through hands-on activities and have fun doing so.
