Tomorrowland Will Take You to Utopia ~ In Theatres Today 5/22/15

Tomorrowland is in theaters today, Friday, May 22, 2015.

Disney.com explains, "From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.”Watch trailers and read more from Disney.com HERE.

Disney's Tomorrowland is visually breathtaking. There are definitely ethereal scenes filled with spires on buildings and jet packs in the air. You will see enhanced walkways and a beautified Test Track similar to the ones at Epcot. We were just there and it is very interesting to see in the movie a possible version of the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow as may have been imagined by Walt. A very Utopian view of the future- just beautiful.

Dystopian themes are also present. It is mentioned in Casey's English class and is obvious with what Frank sees is happening to the world(s). Ultimately, good appears to triumph over evil. There are funny moments and a sense of hope at the end in true Disney style.

Ages for the film:
My 9 year-old LOVED the film and has been wearing his Tomorrowland pin from Test Track every day. He did say that my younger daughter would be scared by some of the sci-fi action moments.  She is 5. There are unexpected moments of peril but the violence is mainly humans battling robots. For the most part, the humans win.  The robots are very human-like and younger kids may not understand the difference. I also think that some kids may be disinterested because it is live-action with a cool albeit slightly-complicated plot. If your kiddo is still really only into cartoons they may not be ready for this film. I would say 7 and up for this film mainly due to the fact that it is live-action and has intense moments. It always depends on each individual child and what might scare or not capture their interest.

I think most kids and adults will enjoy a night at the movies as they are wisked away to a Utopian dimension. We will be seeing it again for sure.

I attended a preview of Tomorrowland from Disney.
