5 Fabulous Staycations in Arizona

We have had the opportunity to stay at these 5 fabulous resorts in Arizona for staycations over the years. I hope you enjoy the list.

1. Arizona Grand Resort and Spa in Tempe. This is definitely one of our favorites! We love hopping on the freeway from Tucson and getting to the Grand in no time at all. It is a about 1.5 hours driving from Grant and I-10. The IKEA is very close  to the resort and so is Arizona Mills. You can make it a shopping staycation too.  I like the laid back vibe of the resort. The rooms are nice and you can often park near them which is a plus for families lugging extra supplies and stuffed animals. The water park is where you will spend a lot of your time and if your room is a bit far you can always have them bring you to the water park by golf cart (score for the kids!). The wave pool often shows dive-in movies! There is also a kiddie area, slide, and lazy river - their water park has it all. Right now there are $99 specials - See that information HERE.

2. Westward Look Wyndham Grand Resort and Spa in Tucson. Westward Look has desert charm and three sparkling pools to cool off in. The wildlife, old west feel, and views make this established resort a fun adventure. There are tours of the gardens where the chefs harvest some of the ingredients for the fabulous creations in the Gold Room. Make sure to try the prickly pear lemonade. My kids loved being able to see artichoke flowers in bloom and pick some grapes to snack on from the garden. You may choose to have a massage in the room or at the Sonoran Spa. Maybe a horseback ride? So many fun options. Read more about our experience HERE.

3. JW Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson- This resort is a gorgeous property nestled in the foothills on the west side of Tucson. Three words: views, views, views. WE loved grabbing our Starbucks (there is one conveniently located at the resort) and hanging on the patio. Sitting outside and roasting some S'mores on the terrace overlooking the mountains and city in the evening is also so relaxing. Even if you are just coming from Tucson itself, you feel like you are out of town. There are resident deer on the golf course that can be seen from some of the balconies which are fun for the kids to spot. They have fabulous holiday themed packages. There are great kids activities and a teen lounge. See them all HERE

4.Westin Kierland Resort and Spa in Scottsdale. The Kierland has so many different opportunities for family fun. Surfing in the desert? Why, yes the resort offers that. They also have a lazy river, pools, and many kinds of kids activities. They even offer a scavenger hunt for kids to get pins and add them to their passport and lanyard. My children loved this experience. They made their own stuffed animals, tie-dye shirts, and painted a ceramic figure of their choice.  The expansive golf course views and the bagpipe playing were great for an evening of relaxing. See more of our experience HERE.

5. Arizona Biltmore -in Phoenix If you are looking for beautiful and classy -  this is the location. It is gorgeous and accommodating. We stayed in the Ocatilla Suites area of the resort which includes a private pool, complimentary beer, wine & refreshments, and continental breakfast. Ocatilla information HERE.  They have fabulous sprawling grounds that are perfect for letting the kids frolic in between all the pool and snack time at the Ocatilla lounge and pool.
