Alice in Wonderland Jr. This Weekend in Tucson

My family and I went out last Saturday night to see Spotlight Youth Production's, Alice in Wonderland Jr.. It was a cornucopia of color and creativity. There were impressive glow in the dark sets and unique costumes to help accentuate all the hard work these young actors have put into their performances. We really enjoyed the resplendent garden/caterpillar scene.

The witty use of space and props was also fun. Alice changes from small to medium to large with the help of a  fairy who happens to have extra large magic wings. The cute extra props in the lobby added just the right amount of Wonderland to make us all smile.

Speaking of smiling, the Cheshire Cat and his/her tails ( 3 girls play this part) were a favorite of my kids. All of the actors really seemed to enjoy their roles and this weekend they will be playing different characters than the week before. All the young performers will still be in the cast but are given the opportunity to develop a different personality found in Wonderland

The cast is made up of kids ages 5-13 that are part of a program in Oro Valley run by Spotlight Youth Productions . Their hard work all year culminates in a summer show. This year's choice is Alice in Wonderland Jr.  and there are only 2 shows left. Go show your own kids live theatre and what these players are capable of.
