Martin Luther King Day Events MLK in Tucson 2016

There are quite a few things happening on MLK Day in Tucson for families to enjoy and participate in.

What: Annual Martin Luther King Day March AND Street Naming!   Prior to marching, the street will be renamed and dedicate to MLK! Once the remarks conclude, participants will march to Reid Park for the festival which will feature speakers, music, dancers, food booths and informational booths.
When: Monday, January 19, 2015 at 9am Marchers will gather at Street Dedication at  8:00 AM 
Where: corner of 36th Street and M L King Jr Way (across from the Quincy Douglas Center) 
Cost:FREE



What: 30th Annual Martin Luther King Day Festival which will feature speakers, music, dancers, food booths and informational booths. 
When: Monday, January 19, 2015 10-3  
Where:Reid Park
Cost:FREE

What:Freedom Songs Sing-a-long MLK Day Ted Warmbrand will lead us through some wonderful singable examples which carried freedom fighters of yore through the tumult and strife of their times, and face it with courage.
When:Monday, January 18, 2016 3-5pm
Where:Temple Emanu-El, 225 North Country Club Road

What: FREE Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr.'s  legacy on Monday at 7:30pm with a free screening of Soundtrack for a Revolution and on Saturday, Feb. 6 we'll have a special screening of Selma with a post-film Q&A with Diane McWhorter, whose acclaimed book “Carry Me Home,” an account of the civil rights revolution in Birmingham, Alabama, won the 2002 Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction.

Join us for a special day just for children and their families! Our knowledgeable docents will help children connect to the natural world with games, crafts, and presentations throughout the Gardens.
When: Monday, Jan. 18  9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where:at Tucson Botanical Gardens 
Cost: Free with admission ($13 Adults | $12 Student/Senior/Military | $7.50 Children 4-12 Children 3 and under and Members are always free!)



What: $1 Kids Days at Old Tucson Weekend!

Kids Dollar Days will include additional specials for kids including:
  • $1 Fountain drinks
  • $1 Hot dogs
  • $1 Cotton candy
  • $1 Snow cones
  • $1 Pan for Gold
  • And more!
When: Monday, January 18, 2016 10am-5pm

Cost: Children ages 4-11 will be $1and children 3 and under are admitted free as always. Adults $17.95



What: MLK Day of Service at Tucson Village Farm   National Day of Service this Monday (MLK day!) at Tucson Village Farm! Bring the whole family for hands on work and fun. You will also receive one or both of these FREE 2016 calendar(s) from TVF and our Master Gardeners!
