Disneyland Tours ~ Focus on Walk in Walt's Footsteps

My family and I have been to Disneyland a few times this year during the 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration and it has been an extraordinary experience. For our most recent trip, we decided to try a tour. There are different tour options depending on your interests, the time of year you visit and your budget.

The tour that we chose was "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" and we had the best time. My son is fascinated with the history of Disneyland and with Walt Disney's life so I knew it would be great for him. It ended up being an enjoyable tour for all of us. Disney Tours really know how to make everyone feel special.

We started at City Hall and the Fire Station where our personable and knowledgable guide told us about Walt's childhood and apartment above the fire station. My son was really hoping to go into his apartment but when I booked the tour they had said it was only a possibility. However, some pixie dust was still in store for us at the end of the tour.

We learned a lot about Disneyland's design and opening day as we continued our tour to Fantasyland. There we were able to ride a classic ride together as a group. (The rides may vary each tour)
New Orleans Square was our next stop and we walked through Fronteirland to get there. In the square, we learned more about Mr. Disney and his wife Lillian's love for road trips and curio stores. Those interests helped shape some of the concepts for the shops and streets that line New Orleans Square near Pirates of the Caribbean. We were then able to take a ride that may have left us with some hitchhiking ghosts.(rides subject to change)
We visited Tomorrowland and learned quite a bit about "Its a Small World" before returning to Main Street for lunch at the Jolly Holiday Bakery (lunch or dinner is included with the fee for this particular tour). I ordered one of my favorite desserts of all - the Matterhorn Macaroon!

After lunch, we were led back to New Orleans Square, where we climbed up the steps and then took the elevator to the Dream Suite- it really was a dream to step inside the peaceful exclusive suite above Pirates of the Caribbean. It was amazing to see all the magic touches that Walt would have loved to have been a part of himself. A stay in this suite is attained by winning it or being gifted the opportunity. We were thrilled just to visit it! (Visiting certain locations is subject to change)

This tour was very touching at certain points and our guide did a great job of making sure we really felt like we were reliving where Mr. Walt Disney had been. As she reminded us at the beginning, Disneyland is the only park that Walt did step foot in. Overall, the tour was full of fun and historical facts. I can't wait for our family to try another tour sometime soon.

  1. I think the new arch works, it looks like the Star Tours Logo abstracted and has a touch of vintage Tomorrowland to it. Thank goodness it is the original X-Wing and not the The Force Awakens version. disneyland florida tours
