Tucson Happenings 3/11-3/13, 2011


FRIDAY-3/11/11
What: Dance and Dessert Ballet Tucson performance.it will include a wide array of performances from Ballet Tucson’s eclectic repertoire over the past 25 seasons. A delicious concert of classical and contemporary works with a grand finale of dessert tastings from the area’s best restaurants and eateries.  My husband and I went years ago at PCC West and it was fun and yummy!
When:7:30pm (Sat at 2pm and 7:30pm and Sun at 1pm and 5pm)
Where:Stevie Eller Theatre 1737 E. university Blvd.
Cost:$25 a bit pricey but fun

 What The Producers.  Probably more entertaining for older children/teens check out opening night and support local high school theater.  Who doesn't love a musical?

 SATURDAY - 3/12/11
What: Sabino Junior Ranger Program-Kids ages K-6th grade can participate in tomorrow's activity and every Saturday through March 12, 2011.  Presentations and activities include desert survival, local flora and fauna plus all the beauty of Sabino Canyon.
When: Two times each Saturday 10am and 2pm
Where: Sabino Canyon Visitor Center 5700 N. Sabino Canyon Road
Cost:$5 for Park entrance fee or $20 for yearly pass




What: Build and Grow clinic- Make a basket shooter and if this is your first time there get a free apron and goggles for each participating child.  Plus after each project child will receive a completion certificate and badge! Go HERE to pre-register!

What: Tucson Festival of Books- A huge festival surrounding literacy, reading, education and life!! Really, there are so many things to see and do...... For more information and a full guide go HERE

Where: The University of Arizona Mall
Cost: FREE even free parking in the garages!!(those of us who have had parking tickets at UA can exhale now)

What:My Nature Space.  A kid's event to explore the 5 senses and experience nature in the park.  learn ways to record your observations and start a nature journal.  Ages 8-12. Call 615-7855 to make a reservation.
When:9:30-12noon

Cost:FREE

 What: PIma Air and Space Museum Young Kids Program Fun with Physics!  Sounds like a nice hands-on science program. Ages 8+. Go HERE reservations are required.
When: 1pm-2:30pm

What:St. Patrick's Day Celebration and Parade!  A downtown community event for more info call 954-1396
When:3:30pm with parade at 5:30pm

What:Rails in the Garden Tour.  A self-guided tour of 8 local garden railroads!  We have done this before and they are amazing huge hobbies for the people that own and operate them. For more info. go HERE or call 400-1284
When:10am-4pm
Where:Map that you follow in your own vehicle to the different homes
Cost:$5 kids and teens free

 What:Fiesta de Saguaro.  We have gone for the past two years!  Food, music, dance, kids activities and piñatas!  A beautiful setting of course and if you have never been in the visitor's center the view is breathtaking.
When:10am-4pm (Piñata @ 12noon and 3pm)
Where:Rincon Mountain Visitor's Center 3693 S. Old Spanish Trail
Cost:FREE -food vendors available

What: 2nd Saturdays Downtown.  Always a blast and the Tucson Children's Museum has the special $2 admission for everyone from 4-8pm. For more info. go HERE.  There are family -freindly activities and Tucson Jazz Institute 7-9pm FREE at the Fox Theatre (we like to just be in the awesomeness that is the FOX! Plus more telescopes set up, a Celtic pirate ship WOW!!!

Cost: FREE except entrance to TCM $2

SUNDAY 3/13/11
What: Playmobil Party!  Chance to check out and play with Playmobil sets plus take a picture with the giant Playmobil pirate and raffles too !There will be free gifts with any purchase (while supplies last). The raffle will be at 2pm sharp!
When:1-2pm

Cost:FREE
