What:Thunder in the Desert! Taking place from Dec. 30 – Jan. 8, native peoples from around the world will gather to share their unique cultural backgrounds with each other and the public. Through song, dance, music, food, crafts, storytelling, kids’ activities and more, they will offer a glimpse into their heritage. Groups are coming from such far-flung places as Ecuador, Australia and Alaska, and from as near as Arizona’s Navajo, Hopi and Apache reservations. What:Tohono Chul Park Event To commemorate the events of January 8, 2011, the Park will be open free of charge on Sunday, January 8. Helping us "commit to kindness" will be the Ben's Bells Project and TUSD's Community Transition Programs. From 10am to 2pm visitors will have the opportunity to sign a "Commit to Kindness" contract at the Children's Ramada and paint their names on tiles to be used in a large- scale Commit to Kindness mosaic mural to be installed in downtown Tucson this spring as part of the Kindness Corridor.
