What: Elephant Birthday Party Sundzu, the elephant, is turning 2 and we need you to come help us celebrate this Saturday, December 29! Sundzu will be receiving his birthday treats at 11:30 so we hope you’ll be there to help us sing “Happy Birthday!” An elephant craft to take home as a party favor will be available for kids to make from 11-1. Learn all of this and more in this gentle meditation on the many ways that light threads through diverse celebrations of the season, followed by a short tour of the night sky with a real-time star show via our Hector Vector star projector as operators point out what to look for over Tucson heading into 2013. What: Laser HolidaysI Lean back under the planetarium dome and let your spirit sing along with classic and pop holiday favorites as our laser system scans images at more than 30,000 times per second to create the illusion of solid-image animations.This 40-minute show features classic holiday music by Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby and Burl Ives as well as more contemporary pop favorites by the Eurythmics, Enya and Mariah Carey.It's a show the entire family will enjoy (feel free to sing along!) and a great way to warm up after a look through our 16-inch reflecting telescope in the observatory (it's free, and our volunteers will show you the best the night sky has to offer!).Note: Family Days and Nights get you all exhibits and shows for one low price!
