I must let you know that before seeing Wicked brought to the Tucson Music Hall by Broadway in Tucson:
- I had never read the novel.
- I had never read a review.
- I had never seen the show.
I am a busy mom, teacher and blogger. Escaping into a witty and wonderful performance of Wicked at the Tucson Music Hall was a grand evening! The storyline was interesting and twisted. It inspired me to read the novel. I must say the novel is a much more intensely adult version of the musical. I would recommend the musical for older kids and teens!
The sets and costumes are larger than life! All of the shades of green were amazing! Green happens to be one of my favorite colors so the Emerald City was a lovely sight for me.
The Ozian words in the script were probably some of my favorite parts. I enjoyed it and didn't get too "confusified" by it although I am blonde and not an Ozian. It certainly was a "hideodious" hat that Elphaba (the wicked witch) was given by Galinda/Glinda (the good witch).
I hope that I have "encouragized" you to go "defiy gravity"!
You can enter the Wicked lotto 2.5 hours before each show to get $25 orchestra tickets. All the information can be found at BroadwayinTucson.com
I was provided tickets to see Wicked.
It was wonderful, wasn't it? Like you, I didn't know much about the storyline prior to attending the show - but I'm so glad I went. The songs have been in my head ever since.
ReplyDeleteTwo enthusiastic thumbs up.
