Home Shade Tree Program $8 Trees for Tucson
Can you use some affordable trees around your home? I know I can! I posted about this last year and we have 4 trees from a year ago even though we rent (all you need is your landlord's signature). What an affordable way to beautify your home and create shade and cooler temps :)
So here is the general information:
There is a grant from the Tucson Electric Power Company in conjunction with Tucson Clean and Beautiful that allows TEP customers to have inexpensive trees delivered
- Home must be in the TEP service area (including parts of Catalina, Green Valley, Marana, Oro Valley, Sahuarita and Vail). (If you are a customer of Trico Electric Cooperative, do not use this form - instead visit the Trees for Tucson/Trico page!)
- Agree to plant trees on the east, west or south side of their home.
- Owners of homes built in 1980 or later, or older homes that have been remodeled with double-pane windows, may receive up to two trees.
- Homes built in 1979 or before and that have not been remodeled with double-pane windows may receive up to four trees.
- Submit the home shade tree application HERE (may be submitted individually, or you may also organize with your neighbors and submit forms together for a group delivery).
- Include your TEP account number and intended planting locations on your form.
- Mail the form with payment of $8.00 per tree for the trees you’ve selected (a brief description of the trees and guide is included on the application).
- $8 per tree. You can get them for your home if you are the owner. If you are a renter you just need your landlord's signature. (I am sure the landlord will want a tree or two)
How to apply:
It is a great price and there are the following options of trees:
- Desert Willow
- Blue Palo Verde
- Velvet Mesquite
- Netleaf Hackberry
- Red Push Pistache
For more information go HERE and to fill out an application now it is found HERE.
