  • Ninjago has a full corresponding TV series, that people totally love! It has great animation, and teaches many wonderful values, like hard work, loyalty, patience, creativity, being friendly, and learning right from wrong.  There is not a lot of time for character development in the movie, so if you want to know about all of the characters make sure that you catch the TV series before you come to the movie.

• During the movie the two main characters (Llyod or L-Loyd as his father, Garmadon- Master of Destruction calls him) are an estranged father and son duo, along with the sons teenage ninja team. As a mom, I'm always concerned about what values are being taught in the underlying story. Lego Ninjago teaches about forgiveness, overcoming great adversity, family, unity, and responsibility.
  
• Reminiscent of the first two films in the Lego franchise, the movie music is great! It is a source of humor for the adults, that many of the children will not understand.  However the great songs have been adapted to make them appealing and friendly to the younger generation. Honestly though one of the things I'm happy about is the fact that my children will not be running around the house singing a catchphrase like “everything is awesome” over and over again until my brain wants to explode.
• There are plenty of cliché parts of the storyline, and reminders of fun characters that we grew up with. Some people may consider it a glorified toy commercial, it takes a lot of work (over 4 years) to create something this detailed and I think there's enough substance for it to come off entertaining.

• Lego Ninjago opened September 22 and you can see it in theaters now! Head out this weekend :)
• 90 minutes
• I would say the main audience it is targeted towards is 8 to 12-year-old boys, but my daughters loved it just as well!
