Honey Nut Cheerios are definitely one of the favorite breakfast foods. Everyone, from Nana and Tata to my youngest love a bowl of Cheerios. For Día del niño ( Día los niños, we made a recipe together that was simple and fun and did not require a bowl of milk. Doing something as simple as working together to create a tasty treat is special for the kiddos. They said over and over again how fun it was to stick their hands in and make something to eat and share with the whole familia.
Ingredients we used:
5 cups Honey Nut Cheerios- which were in a specially marked box at Walmart with a BOGO offer.
3 cups mini marshmallows
2 tablespoons butter
A few raisins and chocolates to decorate or add to the shapes.
Step 1 Melt the butter and marshmallows in the microwave or on the stove. Let the kids measure out all the ingredients and if microwaving that is fun for them too.
Step 2 Mix the melted marshmallow together with the Cheerios. This was a favorites step for the kids to use the spoon and mix them up!
Step 3 Coat with cooking spray or use parchment paper to put Cheerios mix in a pan and press down. The kids also made galactic astroids with their hands and it was so fun to get sticky.
Final Step- cut into shapes decorate and buen provecho! Check out Que Rica Vida for other great recipes in both English and español!
This is such a cute idea! Thanks for sharing:)
