Our favorite bridge is Rillito River- The easiest way to see them is to go to the Trader Joe's parking lot at Campbell and just south of River Road on the east side of the street. Located at 4209 N. Campbell Ave. The, walk back north to the end of the parking lot. You will most likely see others there waiting to see the bats near the Rillito RiverPath trail.
This time we made it right at 7:30pm as they began to fly out for their insect feasts. There were also larger hawks waiting to get a bat treat. Go right before sunset and you should see them emerge.
This photo was from an event we went to ay Agua Caliente Park (all of those are on the Arizona Families calendar) Do not get close or try to touch the bats in the wild. |
We went to dinner afterwards at Costa Vida right there in the same shopping center- Love their food- see our thoughts HERE and if you sign up for the "Costa Vida" app you will be given $4 immediately and if you want to use my code Cristinit40 you will get a free drink (no purchase necessary) and I will receive points.
Make a night of the bat bridge and dinner. :)
There is also Pantano River Park on Pantano and 22nd or sometimes we go to the Home Depot and Sam Levitz parking lot and bridge on Broadway and Pantano. Our favorite is Rillito though.
Have you ever been?
Do you know of any other great spots?
